Introduction

Dublin is the most exciting city in Ireland – not surprising with it being the Republic’s capital. It is home to some of the most important sites in the nation’s history and makes the perfect location for your group’s travel plans. Whether you’re after a night out on the town in Temple Bar, a daytime group activity or a whole group holiday package with accommodation included, we can help your group plan an incredible experience in Dublin.

10 Reasons to visit Dublin

  1. To visit the most exciting and diverse city in Ireland.
  2. To experience the famed hospitality and friendliness of Dubliners.
  3. To see the spectacular views from the Dublin mountains and maybe try the starting kilometres of the Wicklow Way.
  4. To drink a pint of Guinness in its hometown.

  6. To learn about Ireland’s nationalist history.
  7. To walk the cobblestones of Temple Bar.
  8. To walk in the footsteps of some of Dublin’s most famous figures including James Joyce, Oscar Wile and Bram Stoker.
  9. To hear some of Ireland’s best trad music in famous pubs like the Cobblestone.
  10. To experience its vibrant live music scene.

10 Top group activities & ideas in Dublin

  1. Test your group’s resourcefulness and skill with a group day out at GoQuest.
  2. Climb up high with a group outing to the best High Ropes and Ziptrails course in Dublin.
  3. Get outside for a group hike on the first leg of the Wicklow Way, starting in the Dublin mountains.
  4. Book a dinner for your group in one of Dublin’s best restaurants.
  5. Show Dublin your moves with a Silent Disco Walking Tour of Ireland’s capital.
  6. Take to the roads in style with an elegant afternoon tea on a vintage bus.
  7. Test your skills and creativity with a group Treasure Hunt.
  8. Host a Murder Mystery Dinner in your accommodation or a restaurant of your choice.
  9. Complete a Dubliner right-of-passage with a visit to Coppers club, for a wild group night out of dancing, drinking and partying.
  10. We couldn’t leave off a visit to the Guinness Storehouse if you haven’t been before. Even if you have been, the views from the rooftop bar are always worth seeing again.

Where to drink in Dublin

  • Palace Bar, Temple Bar: This tiny pub feels like a real Dubliner haunt when you get inside. With a cosy vibe, unique stained glass roofing at the back and plenty of bar nooks to get to know your bartender in, it’s a great place to start your Temple Bar night out in Dublin.
  • Cobblestone, Smithfield: If you’re looking for a real local pub that offers traditional Irish music, then the Cobblestone is the place to be.
  • The Brazen Head, Christchurch: This old-school pub claims to be the oldest in Ireland. Whether you believe it or not, it offers tasty food, proper Guinness and a lively atmosphere to start or end your group night out in Dublin.

Getting to & around Dublin

Dublin is the best-connected city in the Republic, with international flights coming into Dublin Airport from all over the world and train (via Irish Rail) and bus (via Bus Eireann) connections with the rest of Ireland and the North. It is a large city, though, so you could walk comfortably in the centre. However, you’ll probably eventually need to jump onto the Luas (tram), bus or train if your group are planning to see some sights a little farther afield.

The best things to see and do in Dublin

  1. Ha’penny Bridge: If you’d like the (small) chance of sunny weather and longer evenings for your group’s plans, then summer is going to be your best bet. However, the silver lining to the fickle weather in Ireland means that there’s no excuse not to visit Dublin year-round.
  2. Guinness Storehouse: You can’t come to Dublin without tasting some of the black stuff. Guinness is synonymous with Ireland and a taste test is a must if you’re coming from overseas. Even if you’re a local, the history of the beer is fascinating and the views from the rooftop bar is a must-see for this city.
  3. Dublin Castle: If you’d like the (small) chance of sunny weather and longer evenings for your group’s plans, then summer is going to be your best bet. However, the silver lining to the fickle weather in Ireland means that there’s no excuse not to visit Dublin year-round.
  4. Chester Beatty Library: If you’d like the (small) chance of sunny weather and longer evenings for your group’s plans, then summer is going to be your best bet. However, the silver lining to the fickle weather in Ireland means that there’s no excuse not to visit Dublin year-round.
  5. Malahide Castle: If you’d like the (small) chance of sunny weather and longer evenings for your group’s plans, then summer is going to be your best bet. However, the silver lining to the fickle weather in Ireland means that there’s no excuse not to visit Dublin year-round.
  6. Glasnevin Cemetery: We know, you don’t normally think to visit a graveyard when you visit a city but, trust us, Dublin’s most famous cemetery is a unique experience. Filled with Irish patriots and with a brilliant tour to tell you all about the history, this one will surprise you.
  7. The Hellfire Club: If your group are planning a day in the great outdoors of Dublin, then you can’t go wrong with a walk and the views up at the Hellfire Club in the Dublin mountains.

When is the best time to travel to Dublin?

If you’d like the (small) chance of sunny weather and longer evenings for your group’s plans, then summer is going to be your best bet. However, the silver lining to the fickle weather in Ireland is that it’s impossible to plan for good weather, so there is no excuse not to visit Dublin year-round.

Is Dublin expensive?

It can be but, honestly, that doesn’t mean it’s so bad that you can’t bring your group here for activities or a holiday. Getting accommodation sorted is the first step (if you’re staying overnight) but your drinks at the pub and your activities are about the same price as if you were elsewhere in Ireland, so it can be a really affordable option.

Do we need to pay a deposit to book?

No! You don’t pay anything upfront when you submit your booking request through our website and there’s no commitment. We’ll check availability for your chosen item(s) and, only once we’ve confirmed everything, we’ll ask you to pay for your spot on the event/trip (the full cost of one person) as the non-refundable deposit to secure the booking.
